Title: Halloween Gaming Nite @ Outpost Oct 2007
Post by: jack208 on September 20, 2007, 10:07:10 pm

Hi there, just have got this confirmed with Outpost. We'll be calling for a Halloween Gaming Nite on Oct 27 (Sat) at Outpost (The Curve). Details are still sketchy but from our discussion today...

anyone interested, pls let me know here..... Oct 27 Sat, mark this down in your calendar. [changebat]

Cause this is thriller, thriller night
And no ones gonna save you from the beast about to strike
You know its thriller, thriller night
You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight

p/s I noticed there's a nice pool hall just a few lots away from Outpost. Those who can be there earlier and who fancy some pool, can meet up and hustle me. We can also try to find out the answers to the "crooked limbs" question.

Tentative Attendees List

Can bring Gloom and Doom as well.

Speaking of nightmares, one of my colleagues dreamt that the demonic twins from on of my Gloom family's cards came out of the cards to haunt her. Hahahha.

Yes there'll be best prizes for Best Dressed (Male/Female). So dress to fright!

Aycee, you dun come like this wor... else you'll be the first to be lynched the 1st morning in the Werewolf game. [:P]

Hmm.. not sure whether this fren of mine will turn up. he's a nice gamer, fun to play with and all that except that he has the nasty habit of changing into a werewolf if you accuse him of one during Werewolf games. [sweating].

Oh dun worry if you happen to sit next to him.. he usually attacks the other person directly opposite him. tsk tsk.

Menfolk and Womenfolk, all gather round...
Forged within the very depths and soul of nakedness, it stuns those who dare lay eyes on its wearer.

But behold! The wearer, too, suffers! For such glamour is too much. The wearer runs berserk!

That is a very powerful Ring and it chooses its master!

that Ring has a name...

Alrite, details for next week's Halloween party from Outpost Cafe. Those here wishing to sign-up pls add your name to the list below.

MySciFiFan Out-of-this-World Halloween Party, Sat 27 Oct
Aliens, Jedi, Sith, Mutants, Vampires, and other X-Files out there! This is one party not to be missed...

The MySciFiFan Halloween Party is back on Saturday 27 October 2007. Starting from sunset at 7.30pm, experience the strange and out-of-this world at the MySciFiFan Outpost, Cineleisure Damansara. The macabre agenda includes:

Costumes of all genres (sci-fi, anime, horror, etc.) encouraged but not compulsory... but where's the fun of Halloween without one! If you don't have your own costume, rent one from Costume World nearby (tel. 03-77297332, www.costumeworld.com.my) or Fun Costume Shop in Subang (tel. 03-56352459).

And there's more required than just a great costume to win the contest... dazzle or spook the judges with an out-of-this-world performance and you might just bring home some great prizes courtesy of CinemaOnline, e-Toyz.com, Comics Corner, Imagine Games, & Otherwise Ventures / Jada Toys.

Party passes available for Rm39/- per pax, or only Rm34/- for early-risers... er... early-birds making payment by Sunday 21 October 2007. Pre-register by e-mailing halloween@boardgamecafe.net or sms me your name, email and handphone contact number to be kept informed of the latest party updates.

Note1: BGC is likely printing Halloween t-shirt for this event (so that those coming w/o costume can wear this t-shirt).

Note2: I assume most gamers here are coming primarily for the gaming in a Halloween atmosphere so the games that we've in mind are... (do shout if you want other games)

Note3: Since the pool hall is just down the other end from Outpost, there'll be pool sessions starting from 4ish.

Note4: OTK Fri gaming shud be onz as usual; warm-up for Sat event.

Let's get the [fiesta] party going.....

same here. at least will skimp on the costume and spend more money on boardgames.

Arkham Horror? yawn!!!
I dare you to play Power Grid, 1856 and PR nonstop. (only 5 minute loo break in between each game, loser pick up and set up and board) with Catan for a warm-down.

PS: but since it is Halloween, will probably settle for 5 rounds of werewolf?

some updates....

Goodies Bags are for those in costumes. Baddies Bags are for those without costumes. Richard mentioned there is a surprise in the Baddies Bags, however he forgot to mention whether it's a "good" or "bad" surprise! hehe

Halloween package (rm34) will include freeflow drinks for BGC registered attendees; this is a nice gesture from Outpost so that we can start early gaming (before 730pm) and end gaming late into the evening (past 10pm).

Werewolf game is definitely onz.. and we've been discussing some roles yest morning during dimsum after BGC R2. Since we'll likely have more than 12 for werewolves game, we can see roles like Owl, Possessed, Freemasons/Lovers, etc coming into the game.

Wolfx even mentioned a variant where the werewolves are allowed to kill their own kind at nite! This is a very interesting variant and I think will be very good to intro to an experienced group of Werewolves player.

The other game that'll likely be onz are DOOM (if wolfx coming), Betrayal House Hill (Outpost has a set), Zombies (if shrapnel is onz) and The-Game-That-Must-Not-Be-Named.

As for t-shirts, I'm leaning towards collared t-shirt rather than round-neck tee. Design see below (comments?). [:)] Note: Design template is taken from a round-neck tee.

The t-shirt is *not part* of the Halloween package (rm34). That's the package cost from Outpost and is not from BGC. Those attending the Halloween event will be able to buy this t-shirt at a special price (rm30+ tbc). OTK/BGC regulars who are not attending the Halloween event will also be able to buy this at the special price. And if we've spares, those not coming for Halloween can get them at normal price. Priority to those attending the event.

The ranking on your right sleeve will be embroided on at no extra cost (complimentary of BGC). Ranks will be taken as at last Friday (19/10/07) hehe so no last-minute spamming.

Note: A few of our frequent/top customers will get this t-shirt FOC in their next order as a surprise from us [G] and since the 1st two Knights were promised a BGC t-shirt... I may give this to them instead of a generic BGC tee. [:D]

And I don't mind taking up your offer on 1 game for a shirt either. I'll get you Devil Bunny Needs A Ham.

THANKS again Rhyen.

And about that shirt, i don't know about you guys but I don't feel like becoming a walking advertisment for Outpost and BGC. The URLs are too big. The shirts might be perfect for tournaments though. [:p]
And about that shirt, i don't know about you guys but I don't feel like becoming a walking advertisment for Outpost and BGC. The URLs are too big. The shirts might be perfect for tournaments though. [:p]
Ah well, yes... in a way the t-shirt is a promotion for us, unabashedly speaking. The t-shirt is an optional item for the Halloween event anyway. But if you think you've benefited from BGC's work/website and feel like supporting us, then buy/wear the t-shirt. For those who do, I thank you in advance.

Note: Especially to rhyen who's so kind so so kind to sponsor tees for our members in exchange for one miserable game (hehe). btw a tip for those thinking of wat game to get for him; I dun think he has Snakes & Ladders, Ludo, and Animal Chess yet. And he told me he hates ppl who buys expensive gifts for him. He's a very un-materialistic person and feels that the gift shud come from the heart... no need show of money. [bowgod]

Or if you think BGC is getting enuff benefits from the millions of dollars it's making from its members, well (shrug shoulder), you dun have to get the t-shirt. [bleer]

btw Richard is probably going to consider those going in costumes or BGC Halloween t-shirt as "in costume" and will get the Goodies bags while those not in costumes will be getting the Baddies bags. He's still refusing to tell what's in the bags esp the Baddies bags!! [:O]

btw Heng, I think if u really really touched rhyen's heart (make him so kam-tung), he might even get you two t-shirts!! Wah, like that you get 3 t-shirts la!!

Yes you are most welcomed to but I think Outpost got TI3 la. Descent and/or Talisman might be games with the right theme for the cafe. Tho' 18GL is always a good one to bring but afraid you may not get the time to finish the game (or mebbe 18GA as it's been some time I play that game too [:)]).

Companies pay millions to put their logos on football star's jerseys and on F1 cars. The least you could do if you wannna promote yurselves is give us the shirts for free ma right right? Then I don't mind having a billboard sized ad for both outpost and bgc either. Hehhee.

Exactly... those companies charge RM400+ for a ticket to watch F1. GBP80 for a terrace seat to watch ManUtd crap out Aston Villa. I dun even make money from most of you here.

Oh btw after paying GBP80 for the terrace seat, you still have to pay RM300+ for a MU jersey. So what are we comparing with? [:P]
Halloween package (rm34) will include freeflow drinks for BGC registered attendees; this is a nice gesture from Outpost so that we can start early gaming (before 730pm) and end gaming late into the evening (past 10pm).
There's a likelihood I won't be attending. [:(]  Raya month still has a few weekends of open houses, and when it's relatives and friends, can't ignore like you ignore corporate open houses....
The other game that'll likely be onz are DOOM (if wolfx coming), Betrayal House Hill (Outpost has a set), Zombies (if shrapnel is onz) and The-Game-That-Must-Not-Be-Named.
Guess we'll do Arkham Horror  The-Game-That-Must-Not-Be-Named and TI3 some other time.
As for t-shirts, I'm leaning towards collared t-shirt rather than round-neck tee. Design see below (comments?).
Not too keen on black t-shirts, but since I can't come and it IS a halloween theme thing, I'll shut up now. [:#]
The ranking on your right sleeve will be embroided on at no extra cost (complimentary of BGC).
A nice idea which I hope is carried into next [not black] t-shirt.

Those companies don't charge the tickets la. Its the stadium + FIFA for football and as for F1, the race track + FIA. Air Asia doesn't get anything for putting their logo on MU's jersey.

The players don't pay for their jerseys do they? So we as representative boardgamers should'nt need to pay for BGC tshirts either. Capiche? Hahaha. Oh well my cheapo haggling skills will fail anyway. [:(]

btw I'll be confirming t-shirt sizes with the supplier today so those who are certain they want a t-shirt, pls shout here (or sms me) your sizes so that I can include that otherwise it'll be whatever sizes are avaiable/left. As it is a collared tee, sizes are S, M, L and XL. As a guide, I'll be wearing M (tight) or L (loose).
We sees no Saiddina on the list too. Ok we'll book that.
Saiddina got already, from high school somemore, unopened set (stupid people never shrinkwrap those things).

I am only interested in eurogames, please. If you bring Animal chess, I will make sure that your T-shirt is worn by the pets first before I pass them on to you.

3 rounds of 12-13 player werewolf.

1st round: Fortune Teller Aycee spotted Wolfx as the 1st werewolf in the first point. The second werewolf panicked and revealed herself to Aycee, who outed her out the second night. Chris Yap and Me died, why Waiyan backed up Aycee, so the wolves lynched her but it was too late as the mob sided with Aycee.

2nd round: the hunt went on long and hard, in the end, the gambled paid off as Ian and I were the only 2 villages left and I convinced him to off Chris Yap, the second werewolf, while Adam was outed the turn before. Talk about last minute victories.

3rd round: The fortune teller, Ian found the 1st werewolf fast enough, but wait too long until he found the second werwolf but was lynched by the mob for a slip of the tongue: "I could be lying"

Now waiting to see Neil Gaiman's Stardust.

The only report I can give.....

1.) Werewolves got caught in 4th round i think. I was one of them.
2.) Got killed by werewolf, because i claimed to have special powers on 2nd turn
3.) Got lynched...on 3rd turn.

So i was mostly facepalming myself. [arghh]

Thanks, but what about the other activities in the Halloween event? E.g. food, other games played, cosplay, who dressed as what, who bought the tee-shirts, the trick or treating, the pool games, the pole dancing, etc.

Any pics?

Greetings!

Outpost Commander here... otherwise known as Richard.

Big thank you to Jeff for hosting Werewolf during the party. Hope those in the game had a "bloody" lynching time!

Some photos from the night at the MySciFiFan forum link here, although the photographer mainly focused on cosplayers and some other activities:

Halloween is still on at the Outpost this week...

Bare your fangs to feast on Bloody Intestines serving at the Outpost on special promotion for Rm 9.90. If you're bewildered with what they taste like, think spicy chicken bolognaise with warped pasta noodles. In addition, the first 2 orders of Bloody Intestines each day will receive a Free Goodie bag. Plus taste some Ladies Fingers with every meal order.

Step into the creepy psycho's hideout exhibit in the Outpost function room. Tread carefully and leave things untouched otherwise the psycho might just add you to the exhibit! For those with equally twisted minds, the hideout is also available for horror-themed boardgames and terror video screenings. Outpost games themed for Halloween available for customers include Betrayal at House on the Hill, Dark Lore Horror Trivia Game, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Call 03-77100562 check availability and book the creepy psycho's hideout.

Need to redecorate for the Halloween season? Choose from a selection of themed merchandise with a 10% discount for this week only. Offering action figures (Resident Evil, Vampire D, etc.), comic books (30 Days of Night, etc.) and games (Living Dead Dolls).

Come Halloween Day itself on Wednesday 31st October, come celebrate in Cineleisure with the launch of the Haunted Tunnel (1st floor). Then come by the Outpost for feeding intestines and ladies fingers under dim candlelight and horror themed decor (lookout for the Gremlin!). Plus creepy videos screening in the Psycho's Chamber.
