I wish to draw everyone's attention to our posting guidelines (see above). Any commercial event or post/link is not allowed here unless it's an official Boardgamecafe.net event or where Boardgamecafe.net is involved, and strictly no soliciting or open-sales to be conducted in this forum. "Commercial" being defined as where sales and/or profit are involved.
Gamers who are organizing private meetups can continue to do so via the respective threads already opened/active eg Damansara (which covers Mage, Games Circle, etc), OTK/BGC/KL, etc.
If you have an event - commercial or non-commercial - that you think may benefit the members here, submit the details to
inquiry@boardgamecafe.net and we'll process that accordingly.
Note: Boardgamecafe.net is a privately-funded website that takes no membership fee and is FREE for all to use, and as such we wish to keep this website free from commercialism, and keep the focus and contribution to Boardgaming.
I wish to emphasize this is not picking on any person or organization.
At the moment, the boardgaming landscape in Malaysia is monopolized by one party but with the growing market (and sales) here, very soon a few more parties may join the fray.
If I allow commercial posts to be opened for one company, others will want to have the same privilege extended to them. Do I allow Comics Mart to start their marketing here as well? Settlers Cafe may yet come back and asked "If Imagine and Comics Mart can do their marketing here, why can't they?" There's also another entity who's looking into the boardgaming market.. Soon this may well become a pasar malam.
As it is, "real" gaming contributions here are low although there are a few really excellent threads (including the Book thread started by arthoz). The last thing we want is for all posts to be sales sales sales marketing marketing marketing....
My desire is for this forum to grow into a place where gamers from anywhere in Msia can drop in, have a chat with fellow gamers about the games they'd played, post some session reports, include photos if they wish to, tell others about their favorite
fetish games etc
If you notice, there are hardly even any banner ads here that's promoting my own webstore (which I can easily spam everywhere if I want to). I think if someone wants to get games from us, the Webstore link at the top is easy enuff for them to find us.
I understand this stance may differ from those with commercial interests and I apologise to them if I seem snobbish in "shutting" them out. But as someone once said,
"Ah let's forget about the business-talk.... Railroad Tyconn anyone?"
